BGPA was delighted to welcome Liam Conlon, MP for Beckenham and Penge, to Beckenham Clinic, to discuss the impact of the Winter Access Collaborative in the local community.
Mr Conlon met with Dr Kelly O’Loughlin (BGPA Director), Carly Bone (Head of Practice & PCN Support) and Xavier Noel (Service Manager). The team were also joined by Dr Andrew Parson (Co-Chair and Clinical Lead for One Bromley) and Dr Jonathan Anthonypillai (Clinical Director for Hayes Wick PCN), who has been leading on behalf of all Bromley PCNs for the Winter Access Collaborative service.
BGPA’s Winter Access Collaborative has been providing increased capacity across the winter months through an out-of-hours Clinical Assessment Service, alongside weekday support for Penge PCN. This has been running since 1st December, taking direct referrals from NHS111, to reduce unnecessary activity at local Urgent Care Centres. The service is tailored to patient needs, offering both virtual and face-to-face appointments and is constantly reviewed and adapted to meet the needs and pressures of the local system.
Mr Conlon was pleased to hear how the collaborative has delivered thousands of additional appointments over the past few months, helping to ease winter pressures across primary care.
