BGPA win at the Innovate Awards 2022

  • September 30, 2022

The first Innovate Awards 2022, hosted by The AHSN Network and NHS Confederation, took place on 29th September 2022 and saw finalists across the country come together to celebrate innovation across the health and care sector.

There were a total of 194 total entries from health and care teams covering ten award categories, with judges for the awards including prominent figures from NHS England, regional NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Boards, universities, patient involvement organisations, health equality organisations and innovation specialists.

Bromley GP Alliance (BGPA) were delighted to win the โ€˜Innovation Helping Address Health Inequalities Awardโ€™ for our Winter Health Care Clinics. This award recognised innovation that offers โ€˜the greatest potential to significantly and positively tackle health inequalitiesโ€™*.

BGPA first begun running Homeless Winter clinics in December 2019 to address health inequalities amongst the homeless and rough sleeping population in the borough. Collaborating with specialists from Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, Bromley Drug & Alcohol Service and Bromley Healthcareโ€™s Podiatry Team, has allowed us to provide a range of treatments to manage common health issues. Support continued throughout the pandemic and during the peak, as we treated patients and provided COVID-19 vaccinations.

Dr Hasib Ur-Rub, BGPA Chair and Bromley GP, added: โ€œIt is lovely to have this recognition, BGPA are both honoured and proud, not only for this win but for the care we were able to offer this winter.

Working with some of the most vulnerable in our society is very important to BGPA and the winter health clinic for the homeless is just one example of our work with these groups. My sincere thanks go to the homeless for trusting us, the volunteer clinicians, the United reformed Church for hosting the service, Bromley Shelter for their positivity and kindness and those GP trainees who have operationalised it.โ€

Bromley GP Alliance is a GP federation comprising of 43 practices across Bromley, set up to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. We run a variety of community services including GP Access Hubs, Phlebotomy, Dermatology, Headache, Vasectomy, Health Checks and Denosumab.

Our members remain independent practices and work together across 8 PCNs to find innovative and collaborative ways of working to address the challenges faced in the NHS today.

Together we are passionate about health care for Bromley patients and want to offer the highest quality care. Since implementation, our services have developed the ethos of sharing our professional knowledge and skills with our patients.
