Bromley GP Alliance (BGPA) were delighted to win the โInnovation Helping Address Health Inequalities Awardโ for our Winter Health Care Clinics. This award recognised innovation that offers โthe greatest potential to significantly and positively tackle health inequalitiesโ*.
BGPA first begun running Homeless Winter clinics in December 2019 to address health inequalities amongst the homeless and rough sleeping population in the borough. Collaborating with specialists from Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, Bromley Drug & Alcohol Service and Bromley Healthcareโs Podiatry Team, has allowed us to provide a range of treatments to manage common health issues. Support continued throughout the pandemic and during the peak, as we treated patients and provided COVID-19 vaccinations.
Dr Hasib Ur-Rub, BGPA Chair and Bromley GP, added: โIt is lovely to have this recognition, BGPA are both honoured and proud, not only for this win but for the care we were able to offer this winter.
Working with some of the most vulnerable in our society is very important to BGPA and the winter health clinic for the homeless is just one example of our work with these groups. My sincere thanks go to the homeless for trusting us, the volunteer clinicians, the United reformed Church for hosting the service, Bromley Shelter for their positivity and kindness and those GP trainees who have operationalised it.โ
