COVID-19 Vaccination Update
Following extensive trials, safe and effective vaccines for COVID-19 are now available. Getting vaccinated will be our best defence against this pandemic and will mean you are protecting yourself so you can be there for your family and friends. The vaccine cannot give you COVID-19 infection, and will reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill.
Bromley GP Alliance are working on behalf of Primary Care Network (PCN) groupings including Orpington, Crays, Bromley, Mottingham, Downham, Chislehurst and Biggin Hill. You can find what Primary Care Network your GP Practice falls under using this link Primary Care Networks (PCNs) – Bromley GP Alliance. We have worked very successfully together over the past year on a variety of projects and employed new staff including Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribers and Physician Associates to benefit our patients across Bromley sites.
For the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination, each PCN grouping has one designated site administering the vaccination. Our current designated sites are Orpington Health & Wellbeing Centre for Orpington and Crays PCN grouping (including Summercroft Surgery) and Community House for Bromley, Mottingham, Downham, Chislehurst and Biggin Hill PCN groupings.
The government has set a strict priority list. People over 80 along with care home residents and staff have been the top priority. The majority of care home residents have now been vaccinated with the remainder being covered in the next week. By the 17th January we will have vaccinated approximately 4,500 patients. If you have not yet heard from us to arrange your vaccine or if you are housebound, do not worry – you will be contacted.
We will continue to work together with the PCNs to deliver the next waves of the vaccination programme. As more vaccines are made available to us, patients will be invited based on the priority list.
Please do not telephone to ask when you will be invited. We will be in touch when it is your turn to be vaccinated. As you will appreciate, our phone lines are very busy at the moment and you may be stopping a patient with an urgent medical problem getting through. You will be contacted by text, telephone or letter and may be vaccinated by a member of staff from across the PCNs, helping us to vaccinate as many patients as quickly as possible.
